This is your comprehensive guide to swing events in the North East. We are a group of dancers who organize events which are related to swing. Lindy Hop classes and socials, Balboa brunches, Blues parties, and much more… Our aim is to bring together and enlarge the current community in Newcastle centered on swing dance culture and make sure everyone has lots of fun!

If you want to know what’s going on, check us out and if you want to get involved, just let us know. If you have an event that you want to share with us, we will help get the word out.

Authentic Jazz Classes

Every Wednesday Thom Scott-Phillips teaches Authentic Jazz at a lovely little studio (with mirrors!) in Jesmond.

Authentic Jazz is the jazz from the swing era of the 20s, 30s and 40s. It’s danced today both as a solo dance, and as part of lindy hop and other swing dances. In fact, it’s a great way to improve your partnered dancing, as it teaches you how to move your own body, and builds familiarity with the rhythms of jazz, and how to dance to it. But most importantly, it's just great fun to do.

Thom is a very friendly and approachable teacher, who has many years experience dancing and teaching lindy hop, balboa, and jazz dance, and he has won several prizes at national competitions.
