This is your comprehensive guide to swing events in the North East. We are a group of dancers who organize events which are related to swing. Lindy Hop classes and socials, Balboa brunches, Blues parties, and much more… Our aim is to bring together and enlarge the current community in Newcastle centered on swing dance culture and make sure everyone has lots of fun!

Swing Tyne Committee wants to bring you great teachers to help improve your dancing. Weekend workshops will be announced in plenty of time and at bargain prices. Our great workshops attract people from far and wide (Edinburgh, London and Dublin!) so we appreciate offers from locals to host dancers from other cities.
If you have any suggestions for future workshops, let us know and we'll see what we can do.
Swing Tyne Presents....Balboa Workshop (18/19th September 2010)
 The next workshop will be balboa from Edinburgh's Thom Scott-Phillips. This will be 18th/19th September and the weekend will kick off on Friday with Newcastle's very own club night - The Swung Eight @ World Headquarters with a free beginner class in lindy hop from Thom!
Swing Tyne has invited Thom Scott-Phillips to teach us some balboa. Thom is one of the best dancers in Edinburgh and an original founder of the highly successful Edinbop group. He has been taught by some of the best dancers in the world and won silver in the Scottish Swing Dance Championships. His clear, precise teaching style will ensure you will get the most out of his classes.
Two days of balboa workshops in Newcastle. If you're thinking of coming along, be warned: balboa is a very addictive dance - once you get a feeling for it you will want more.

We're so excited to be bringing the Swing Thing back to you again for its fourth outing.
This year is going to be bigger than ever! We'll have an amazing set of teachers lined up to bring you an amazing weekend of fun! Plus we've got the most spectacular parties planned in the most fitting of venues for Halloween weekend.

 Friendly social dancing - Lindy Hop, Charleston, Balboa and Blues - to authentic music of the 1920s, 30s and 40s. All abilities welcome, no partner or experience needed. Every Thursday at the Boathouse, Ouseburn Regeneration Centre, Spillers Quay NE6 1BU (right on the river below the Free Trade Inn - ample parking).
