If you are a jazz fan, you HAVE TO visit The Jazz Cafe. Nestled away in Pink Lane, just opposite Central Station, it might look shut but the padlocks are open, the lights are on, and some lovely people are home. Let yourself in for a trip back to the 1920s. Original art deco features and a basic, but cheap, bar make for a cosy and welcoming speakeasy. The only bar in town to open late and showcase the best in North East jazz every weekend.
Run by Keith, who is known by generations of Newcastle jazzers, the Jazz Cafe is an institution that should not be missed! Dancers often hang out in the upstairs function room and use the postage-stamp sized dancefloor under the fairy lights. Join the Social Dancing in Newcastle Facebook page to get updates on when we're planning to go.
